7 steps to shiny prom hair

SELF magazine tells us: How to have a  great hair day!

Everyday. No matter what.

1. Vitamins Great Hair starts with a great diet. A poor diet makes the hair thin and lifeless. For fabulous locks, make sure you eat a tress-healthy breakfast: cereal, English muffins, yogurt, milk cheese and eggs. How about: egg and bean burrito with a yogurt drink to keep your hair, skin and nails it tip top shape.

2. Shampoo overdo. Shampooing everyday can make your scalp produce too much oil. Instead, skip a day and wash hair with a gentle shampoo for your hair type.

3. Promote Growth Massage your scalp for one minute right before you shampoo to loosen soil and flakes.

4. Keep it shiny. Lighteners like peroxide, lemon, even the sun can cause your hair to be more porous, and dry. Protect your hair with sunscreen, a hat or an umbrella.

5. Smooth moves. Always handle the hair in the direction of growth from the scalp to the ends. Towel dry your hair by patting from top to bottom,  blow dry downward  to avoid the cuticle from getting ruffled and snarled.

6. Go easy. Use a wide-tooth comb to detangle. Use a natural hair brush to help distribute your hair’s natural oils. Use a diffuser if your hair is curly or wavy.

7. Don’t take the heat. Wait until hair is 80 percent dry before you blow-dry: If too much water is trapped inside the hair, it can heat up to boiling and break the hair shaft.
